What I Wore Sunday

Steven is out of town again this weekend so you all are stuck with my awful selfies. And since I don't have anyone in the house to distract me (except the three dogs) I'm going to pick your brain a bit.

There's this young couple in mass who always wrap their arms around each other during the songs. They also kiss during the sign of peace, like really kiss. Admittedly, I'm a pretty emotionally stunted person and fairly repulsed by most common acts of affection. So Here comes the brain picking what's your opinion of PDA in mass? Am I just being snooty?

Alright enough of that, here's what you came for.

The outfit:
Vest: J crew via Goodwill (found it yesterday)
Shirt: Old Navy (hand me down from my sister when we were in high school)
Jeans: David Kahn via thrift store
Shoes: Sperry's
Decision to go sock less: unfortunately all mine

Rolled them because they're a lil long.
Yay or nay?

Oh and Dominic wanted to say "Hi!"

Alright so for less snootiness, dog pictures, and bad selfies head to Fine Linen and Purple!

  1. I get what you mean about possibly being bothered by PDA in church. However, I think it's probably a good thing? Maybe not super snogging during the peace but just a peck though. We hug during the peace. Occasionally we will hold hands (my husband used to do that a lot when we were dating during church, but not much anymore) and he often puts his arm around me during church.

  2. PDA in church...well my hubby and I share a quick kiss at the sign of peace and occasionally hold hands when sitting during the readings. That's it. Making out though??? not cool...ever!

Love the puffy vest. Wish I could wear one. I just look like an oversize marshmallow.

  3. Yay thrift shopping! On the one hand, I love the witness of young marrieds keeping the romance alive...just...kiss of peace should be limited to quick, closed lip peck.

  4. I second Mary's comment. Small acts of PDA are ok, and a puffer vest on me is not a good thing. Looks very cute on you!

  5. Cute vest! My DH and I do kiss during the sign of peace but it's a peck, not a grope-fest. I think small acts of PDA are ok. :)

  6. I don't like obvious PDA either, especially in Mass. We do hold hands during readings and the homily, and hug and kiss for peace. That being said, I would think that anything more than a quick kiss on the lips would be inappropriate for the sign of peace. Everyone's looking at the people around them, and no one needs to watch that. So yea, I agree with you.

  7. Love the puffer vest! Mike & I give each other a quick kiss at the sign of peace but nothing more. Making out during mass? Sounds icky & awkward.

  8. Love the green puffy vest! Love! Too much rubbing and kissing in church? DISLIKE!

There is a couple that used to sit near us and the husband always has his arm around his wife and he would always rub her arms or back or sometimes her thigh when they are sitting. It totally grossed me out and I found it very, very distracting. They haven't been in front of us in a while and I'm thinking they have started going to a different Mass.

  9. PDA during Mass = inappropriate. I mean, a small peck during the Peace is one thing; but they are crossing the line.

  10. "There's this young couple in Mass..." Well listen to you, 100 years old and still blogging like a twenty something ;-) Lol. I'd say small PDA = fine. Of course, "small" is a relative term.

  11. Love the vest!
I'm also not a fan of PDA during Mass. My husband&I share a super quick peck during the Sign of Peace, often it's on the cheek and not even on the lips. I still feel weird about doing that even!

  12. That would drive me crazy, but I probably am snooty.

    Cute puppers!

  13. I might be like the most anti-PDA person in the world, but yeah I agree with you. Sometimes Jim and I hold hands during the homily and he kisses my forehead during sign of the peace, but that's it.
I love the vest and sperrys!

  14. I'm with the rest of your readers. Holding hands, fine. Quick peck at the sign of peace, fine. An arm around the shoulders? Okay. What you're describing, not so much.

  15. Answers to your questions: I'm ok with hand holding, maybe a small peck during peace, a lean here or there.

And yes, roll the pants. Always a good choice with topsiders.

  16. Um, I love that vest. You and Grace make me seriously want a puffer vest!

  17. You are totally in style with your puffer vest! I love the color.

    Enjoy your week!

  18. Hmmm, I'm on the "making out at the sign of peace = really awkward" bandwagon. Also on the boat shoe and puffer vest band wagon! Really cute today!

  19. Love the rolled pants + Sperry's! Definitely a favorite look of mine and I can't wait for spring to pull it off!

Also, I knew a couple who did PDA like that in college. Make me vom. Even worse? That was the only time they kissed like that. Somehow I think it was missing the point...

  20. That vest is such a great thrift find, and I definitely dig the cuffed jeans--it's my favorite way to wear mine!

I've seen my share of Sign-of-Peace makeout fests, too, so I was always super opposed to much PDA at all in church. Since we've gotten married, though, I've realized that it's more real, and can even be a solid witness, to just express affection honestly and prudently--like, if you want to hold hands, then hold hands! Andrew and I are too shy to plant on on each other during Mass, but I love that he usually has his hand on my back when we pray together after communion.

  21. Sperry's plus sockless --- I do it all the time!!!

PDA at Mass: I don't know about "really kiss" for the sign of peace. I give my hubs a quick peck on the lips but that's it! i don't "hug him" or wrap my arms around him, more like hold his belt loops! haha... now I just carry the kids.

I tagged you for Liebster. if you haven't done it and not too busy with med school work, join the fun!
