Inspired by the hilarious Maggie I thought I'd give you all a lil insight into how my very pious lent prep has been and gif laden preview of how my lent will go.
Everyone has been asking what I'm giving up for Lent and I'm just like:
So my husband suggests giving up coffee...
So I finally decide on chocolate and then I talk to my friend who's giving up his car, bread, and hot water...
And so the Holy Spirit does this to me
And prompts me to do something a little more penitential.
Then the coffee-hating husband says "Why don't you join me in going to Adoration everyday?"

| Fine. |
After getting that big decision out of the way I had to do my normal Lenten Fridge prep:
Now it's Ash Wednesday and of course someone offers me the most deliciously delicious cheeseburger God ever blessed us with on this side of heaven and on the outside I'm like:

| "No, thanks." |
And on the inside:
And this is me at 12:01AM Thursday Morning:
And because I'm in such a holy place this is how I'll undoubtedly spend my first few visits with Jesus:
And of course this will follow:
And this is how I will feel about my guilt afterwards.
I know. I disgust myself too.
Eventually I'm hoping my visits with Jesus are a lil more fruitful, maybe with some moving reflections on His Passion.
Or maybe I'll be over come with gratitude for his unending mercy.
And hopefully by Easter Steven and I will be so holy-ed up we'll just be like this all the time:
So there you have it folks my Lenten aspirations. What are you goals for Lent? What are you giving up or adding to your life to get closer to God?

You are hilarious! Thanks for the laugh and dose of perspective this morning! Gotta love Stanley.
ReplyDeleteLMAO!!!It's funny how us Catholic girls are so similar!!
ReplyDeleteWell, for now, I'm fasting today. And making sure no meat crosses these lips. Somehow, I just can't seem to think further than that. LOL
ReplyDeleteThis was great, Katie.
ReplyDeleteha! this was great Katie, and i think that is an awesome resolution - I wish we had perpetual adoration anywhere close to me!
ReplyDeletefunny (and true)
ReplyDeleteThis is the funniest thing I've read in a super long time. I'm all sharing it on Facebook and emailing a link to your blog out to all my friends. haha I love it!
ReplyDeleteWOW, Katie. Just laughed so hard out loud in the library!
ReplyDeletegood. stuff.
it was funny!!! I decided not to give up anything but try to be more aware of God's presence in my life and add more adoration time in my prayer life. Have a great Lenten Season
ReplyDeleteI love this!
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous! I feel ya on the cheeseburger bit!
ReplyDeleteOh! Adoration is so awesome. Even when it sort of feels like I'm just sitting there, being bored, I manage to get something out of it, even if it's days later.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm doing a 40 bags in 40 days, and today I've already done 2 bags worth of stuff! So far, so good.
I'm so glad I clicked on this while I was having my NFP instructor hate fest. Made me laugh, and feel a bit better.
ReplyDeletehahaha I laughed so hard at this! I need to save it!
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHA this is hilarious!!!!! The best!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! I hate when you figure out what you're going to do and then realize that you're maybe being called to give up what you REALLY don't want to give up.
ReplyDeleteThis is hilarious, loved it!
ReplyDeleteHah! You should tell your husband, though, that according to my friend, the convent she's entering doesn't allow one to give up coffee for Lent. Apparently it makes things too penitential for one's fellow inhabitants...
ReplyDeleteThis was so great, I empathize with all of it ('cept the husband part...)
